Our vision is to create significant value within enterprise environments by addressing complex problems that general AI cannot solve. We believe smaller, specialised models (SLMs) coupled with distillation are required to deploy AI at scale.
We are at the start of the AI revolution and are just scratching the surface of what’s possible. Many other companies are focused on large and general AI models; however, we believe there are better ways to unlock AI’s true potential.

From Alexa Challenge to Malted AI
Malted AI was founded based on distillation techniques inspired by the problems the founders had applying Large Language Models to complex tasks as part of the Amazon Alexa Challenge, a global competition designed to advance the field of Artificial Intelligence.
After winning the multi-million dollar competition and beating more than 100 of the leading AI teams from around the globe, Iain Mackie, Carlos Gemmell, and Federico Rossetto founded what Malted AI is today.
