We’re delighted to announce that Dr Sandy Nairn — former Chairman of Franklin Templeton Equities, author of Engines That Move Markets, and one of the world’s most respected investors — is doubling down his commitment to Malted and has been appointed to the position of Chairman.
Sandy brings over 40 years of experience investing in both public and private enterprises. He was the founder and CEO of Edinburgh Partners, which was later acquired by Franklin Templeton, and went on to serve as Chairman of the Templeton Global Equity Group. He has also held senior roles including CIO of Scottish Widows, and today manages the Global Opportunities Trust while serving as Non Exec of Goodhart Partners.

He is the author of the bestselling Engines That Move Markets, widely cited by leaders such as Elon Musk and Sequoia’s David Cahn, and is currently working on a follow-up focused on AI.
Sandy has been part of Malted from day one — first as an investor, and now deepening that commitment as Chairman. Throughout the journey, he has brought an invaluable depth of knowledge in financial services and a global perspective on the investment landscape. This appointment reflects not just a continuing belief in Malted’s direction, but a meaningful commitment of time and energy as we build one of the world’s leading fintechs.
Welcome, Sandy.
